Gordano Releases New Security Product

Gordano Ltd. announced the release of a new standalone messaging security product, the Gordano Vanguard Server, which is designed to provide enterprise-class anti-virus and anti-spam protection to individual or multiple mail servers.

Verio Launches Linux Managed Private Server

Verio Inc. announced the availability of its Managed Private Server (MPS) on the Linux platform, part of Verio's 360-degree Managed Servers suite of services.

According to the company, Verio's Linux MPS, built on Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES version 4, takes advantage of the Linux platform by bundling it with enterprise-level hardware, a secure managed hosting platform, and managed services for added power and performance. All Verio MPS solutions include managed backup to protect business data; a RAID array for greater redundancy, reliability and speed; managed security patches; and fully managed hardware and software updates.

The Linux MPS is designed with added security with new firewall functionality to enable customers to take advantage of a firewall without requiring extensive technical knowledge. Users can also configure settings to block certain ports that are not being used for added protection.

HP Unveils Storage Software for Midsize Businesses

HP announced the release of Storage Essentials Standard Edition Storage Resource Management (SRM) Software to help midsize businesses gain control over expanding storage environments.

According to the company, the software automates complex and manual tasks, and improves the utilization of IT resources via a single, secure, Web-based interface. HP Storage Essentials is built on the latest open standards, including SMI-S and J2EE, and integrates with HP Systems Insight Manager software for unified server and storage management.

IBM DB2 9 for Linux Available to Ubuntu Users

Canonical Ltd announced that users of Ubuntu 6.06 LTS edition (Long Term Support) can now download and deploy IBM DB2 9.

Ubuntu 6.06 LTS is freely available, including security updates on servers, with no restrictions on usage. Businesses can now download and deploy IBM DB2 9 for Linux from the commercial section of the Ubuntu repository.

According to the company, DB2 9 marks the culmination of a five-year IBM development project that transformed database technology into an interactive data server that enables clients to improve their ability to manage all types of information, such as documents, audio and video files, images, Web pages, and digitally signed XML transactions.
