Computer Lab International Unveils TT3200 Series of Tablet Thin Client Terminals

Computer Lab International (CLI) announced its new specialty thin client line, the TT3200 Series of tablet thin client terminals. According to the company, the new TT3200 Tablet Thin Client Series is a flexible, high-performance tablet terminal that provide secure access to Microsoft Windows applications and the Citrix Access Platform, as well as midrange, mainframe Unix and other legacy applications, plus Java, multimedia, and the Web.

The TT3200 Series features a built-in 8.4" color LCD display and AMD Geode LX 800 CPU. Its lightweight and compact design and wireless capability make it an option for admins who require extra processing power, mobility, and portability.

Portland Project Releases Portland 1.0

Open Source Development Labs (OSDL) and freedesktop.org announced the general availability of Portland 1.0, which is available for download at: http://portland.freedesktop.org/wiki/. According to the announcement, Portland 1.0, the first set of common interfaces for GNOME and KDE desktop environments, is available in major community distributions including Debian, Fedora, and OpenSUSE. Red Flag and Xandros have committed to including Portland 1.0 in their next releases and others are expected to follow. Trolltech's Qt 4.2, the primary KDE application framework, is also using Portland 1.0 to provide developers with tighter integration with the GNOME desktop environment. The release of Portland 1.0 is expected to accelerate adoption of Linux on the desktop, contributing to what analyst firm IDC reports will be a $10 billion market by 2008.

Portland 1.0 includes a set of command-line tools designed to help Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) install and integrate their applications in the major Linux desktop environments. The programming interfaces, built to specifications established by freedesktop.org, provide developers with a way to execute the most common installation and integration tasks. Fortify Software Introduces Fortify Source Code Analysis Suite 4.0

Fortify Software announced the Fortify Source Code Analysis Suite 4.0. According to the company, the latest edition of Fortify's software security suite builds on its record of identifying and eliminating most security vulnerabilities, and introduces important new features that will benefit development, audit, and information security teams for enterprise deployments.

Fortify Source Code Analysis 4.0 offers increased support for enterprise deployments, including additional management controls, increased customization capabilities, and expanded reporting abilities. It provides an enhanced rule-writing capability and increased clarity into the analysis process as well as expanded language support, integration with the popular open-source defect detection tool Findbugs, and a new "touchless build" feature that makes integrations with build and development environments easier.

Opengear Releases New IP Power Solutions

Opengear released a new line of IP Power solutions with Web browser control of AC power outlets. According to the company, the IP Power 9258 strip has merged with Opengear's CM4000 and IM4200 gateways to enable systems administrators, network managers, and help desks to securely monitor and control all their servers, PCs, routers, switches, and devices. Servers at distant branch offices and remote customer sites can be securely power cycled, while the out-of-band control allows firewalls and network infrastructure at these sites to be reconfigured and rebooted remotely.
