Cypress Releases Linux USB 2.0
Cypress Semiconductor Corporation has announced Linux USB 2.0, its host driver supporting the SL811HS embedded host/peripheral controller. Linux USB 2.0 provides Linux developers with the ability to add USB host functionality to a variety of embedded-system applications, such as cell phones, MP3 players, network appliances, and PDAs.
Currently, the Linux 2.44 kernel supports the OHCI (Open Host Controller Interface) and the UHCI (Universal Host Controller Interface) specifications for USB host controllers, which are typically implemented in a PC architecture and environment. Since Cypresss SL811HS is a memory-mapped device, the release of this new driver allows the Linux host stack to provide USB host support without realizing that there is a non-OHCI/UHCI type host controller.

IDELIX Unveils PDT SDK v2.0
IDELIX Software Inc. has released PDT (Pliable Display Technology) SDK v2.0 with advanced PDT functionality including the MDLC in-place user interface and broader platform support. PDT transforms the way high-density data sets and images are displayed on PCs, the Internet, and handheld/wireless applications. Efficiency gains are realized through detail-in-context viewing and editing.
Enhancements to version 2.0 include: a structured API; a new MDLC in-place user interface for direct control of lens parameters; additional classes supplied for OpenGL rendering to facilitate texture mapping capabilities on an adaptive PDT mesh that accurately describes PDT lenses; a complete rendering toolkit in the image warper component of the SDK for non-OpenGL; raster-viewing applications; improved in-place editing capabilities with the addition of the reversible undisplace transformation to the mesh class; new Qt-specific classes; and support for handheld applications under WinCE and embedded Linux.
PDT supports Microsoft Windows and Unix variants, such as IRIX and Linux. The PDT SDK was written in ANSI C++ to ensure compatibility with a wide range of C++ compilers. The PDT SDK is available to OEMs and System Integrators that are interested in implementing PDT as a customer solution within their leading applications.
