Trolltech Debuts Teambuilder and Qtopia
Trolltech has announced Teambuilder, a network-based utility that speeds software compilation tasks, and Qtopia, a Linux-based application environment that brings the power of desktop computing to mobile embedded devices.
Teambuilder uses networked computers spare CPU cycles to speed compilation tasks by up to 14 times, decreasing the time spent waiting for an application to compile. Teambuilder provides easy setup and maintenance and ensures that new machines can be added quickly, with limited configuration, while optimizing compile times between multiple systems. Teambuilder works on Linux and requires no dedicated cluster. It requires no kernel or system changes, no NFS, and normally no changes to the existing build system.
Qtopia enables manufacturers to build powerful, intuitive, and resource-efficient PDAs, smart phones, Internet appliances, and other mobile devices that run embedded Linux. Developers write an application once, eliminating time-consuming porting tasks. Qtopia includes a comprehensive set of applications for productivity, information management, Internet content, entertainment, and synchronization across multiple desktop operating systems.
Teambuilder supports GNU C/C++ compilers and offers graphical monitoring and configuration tools. Licensing for Teambuilder starts at $750 for 5 machines, $1,200 for 10 machines, and $1,800 for 20 machines. Qtopia is available immediately free of charge to open-source developers.
