Wise Solutions Announces Wise for Windows Installer 4.0

Wise Solutions, Inc. has released Wise for Windows Installer 4.0, which offers a suite of features for creating Windows installations. Step-by-step graphic cues walk users through each process with point-and-click directives.

One feature in version 4.0 is MSI Script, an application for viewing and editing any Windows Installer package as a logical, sequential script. Users can define IF statements, set properties, and add comments, while still following all of the open standards defined by the Windows Installer service. Also in version 4.0 is Visual MSIDiff, which allows users to see where two Windows Installer packages differ.

Rogue Wave Offers SourcePro C++ Edition 3

Rogue Wave Software, Inc. has released SourcePro C++ Edition 3, including new functionality that enables XML Streams to be transformed using XSLT scripts or by employing user-defined functions. It offers support for the current XML schema specification, additional support for the SOAP 1.2 specification, support for the SOAP Attachments specification, and basic support for the MIME protocol.

SourcePro C++ Edition 3 is available for Windows XP Professional, Red Hat Linux 7.1, AIX 5L v5.1, and HP-UX 11i. In addition, SourcePro C++ Edition 3 now provides support to recent database releases, including Oracle9i, DB2 7.2, Sybase 12.5, and Informix 2.7.

LANGNER Presents LUCA 5.2

LANGNER Communications AG has released LUCA 5.2, a driver library for PLC control, alerting, and teleservice. LUCA 5.2 offers revised event-handling routines. Every event-handling routine of the object-oriented LUCA interface (C++ classes, Delphi VCL components, and ActiveX controls) delivers the related data (such as receipt information) as a parameter, eliminating the need to call functions to ascertain data pertaining to the specific events.

The Breeze Factor Releases Breeze XML Binder v3.0 for Java

The Breeze Factor has released Breeze XML Binder v3.0 for Java, a data-binding product that allows developers to create Java frameworks from XML structures and process XML documents through object interfaces. A re-packaging of Breeze XML Studio, new features include support for the W3C XML Schema Recommendation with code generation and validation for the most commonly used facets and data types. In addition, Breeze XML Binder provides support for XML Namespaces in a data-binding context.

The Mind Electric Debuts GLUE

The Mind Electric has released GLUE, a Java platform for creating, deploying, and consuming web services. Built on standards like XML, SOAP, WSDL, and UDDI, GLUE is used to create software building blocks that are language, platform, and location independent. GLUE can be used stand-alone or hosted inside any third-party application server.

The GLUE professional edition includes enterprise-level features such as EJB integration, JMS integration, and UDDI server, together with technical support via phone and email.

The GLUE standard edition is free for most commercial uses. A single-user development license costs $1,000. A deployment license costs $1,500. Pricing for OEM, ISV, volume, enterprise, and source code licenses are available.

Indigo Rose Ships Setup Factory 6.0

Indigo Rose Corporation has released Setup Factory 6.0, a Windows development tool for creating compact software installers for deployment via CD-ROM, Internet, and LAN. New in version 6.0 is an integrated suite of drag-and-drop actions, improved variable handling, and control structures, such as IF, WHILE, and GOTO. Jinfonet Releases JReport 4

Jinfonet Software has released JReport 4, which introduces viaWeb Designer, a web-based report designer that allows end-users to create and modify reports directly from a browser. ViaWeb Designer provides a visual design interface and a visual query editor. Resources can be stored and viewed under the catalog tab. Reports can be saved to the server, either in a private folder or published according to user authorization. Among the new features of JReport 4 is page-level security, which allows administrators to accurately control which subset of a report a user will see.

JReport Designer 4, for designing reports, costs $1,995 for a single-thread engine. JReport Enterprise Server 4, for deploying reports, is available on either a concurrent user basis or a per-CPU basis.

Creative Science Systems Unveils Schema2Java Compiler

Creative Science Systems, Inc. has introduced the Schema2Java Compiler Tool, a publicly available tool to generate run-time Java code from arbitrary XML Schema, which fully supports the implementation guidelines of the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) XML Schema Recommendation. Schema2Java Compiler generates XML Schemas into Java classes, which can then be used by developers in applications that process XML documents.

The commercial version includes XML Schema importing, XML Schema inclusion, and Attribute Groups, in addition to custom namebinding, namespace support, XML Schema validation, and both GUI and command-line interfaces.

Visual Numerics Releases JMSL V1.0

Visual Numerics, Inc. has released JMSL v1.0, a collection of mathematical, statistical, and charting classes written in Java. JMSL v1.0 contains widely used IMSL algorithms, such as algorithms for complex arithmetic, Eigensystem analysis, integration and differentiation, nonlinear equations, analysis of variance, optimization, and random number generation. JMSL v1.0 offers 2-D charting functionality, such as algorithms for x-y plots, pie charts, bar charts, and hi-lo-close charts.

JMSL v1.0 supports Unix-based workstations (Sun Microsystems, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Silicon Graphics, and Compaq) and personal computers running Windows 98/NT/2000 or Linux. Pricing starts at $5,000 depending on type of license and number of concurrent developers.

Lineo Debuts Lineo Embedix BridgeWorks VX and PS

Lineo, Inc. has released Lineo Embedix BridgeWorks VX and PS, a real-time solution for porting legacy code from VxWorks or pSOS+ to embedded Linux. Lineo has created a new, clean room implementation of RTOS services that operates natively on the legacy API and runs ahead of Linux. This architecture provides such features as real-time services with microsecond performance by default. With this architecture, Linux kernel activities cannot impede the legacy API real-time layer. In addition, BridgeWorks provides a flat memory model, as used by the legacy RTOS.

Lineo provides the Embedix BridgeWorks VX and PS products (including a comprehensive migration guide) as optional packages for integration with the Lineo Embedix SDK and the associated Lineo board support package. Embedix BridgeWorks VX and PS add-ins are available for x86, PPC, and MIPS platforms. Each add-in costs $2,500 for the first seat and $1,500 for each additional seat. Source code for both products is available under an optional license.

Applied Microsystems and Accelerated Technology Announce CodeTEST for the Nucleus RTOS

Applied Microsystems Corporation has announced support for the royalty-free RTOS (real-time operating system), Nucleus, developed by ATI (Accelerated Technology, Inc.). Support for ATI’s Nucleus RTOS is provided in CodeTEST v3.5. Additionally, CodeTEST v3.5 offers several enhancements, including Point-to-Point Timers, data profiling for parent/child functions, ISR performance impact measurements, and scripting capabilities to automate repetitive tests.

Extended Systems Releases XTNDConnect Mobile Objects

Extended Systems has released XTNDConnect Mobile Objects, a mobile application SDK. Optimized for wireless networks, such as an 802.11b/WiFi, XTNDConnect Mobile Objects offers a simple three-step development process. With XTNDConnect Mobile Objects, first developers build a server-based COM object (or use an existing one). Next, they use the XTNDConnect mobile Objects Client Interface Expert to generate a native (non-COM) interface for the client application. Finally, they use the object interface generated in step 2 with AppForge or CodeWarrior to integrate the server object into the client application. Other features include Streamlined Security based on Certicom Elliptical Curve technology, state or stateless connection models, and live database access with store and forward architecture for unstable network environments.

XTNDConnect Mobile Objects costs $395 per SDK and $595 per server.
