SoftIntegration, Inc. has released Ch v2.0, a C virtual machine with classes. Ch v2.0 supports C90, POSIX, and socket/WinSock with over 1,000 functions. Ch v2.0 offers high-level extensions to C, including classes in C++, high-level shell programming, cross-platform Ch applets, generic functions, string type, computational arrays for linear algebra and matrix computations, 2-D/3-D graphic plotting, and classes for CGI. Distributed Systems Research Announces Jess 6.0b1
Distributed Systems Research has released Jess 6.0b1, a rule engine and scripting environment written entirely in Java by Ernest Friedman-Hill at Sandia National Laboratories. Jess was originally inspired by the CLIPS expert system shell, but has grown into a distinct Java-influenced environment of its own. Jess 6.0b1 is used to build Java applets and applications that have the capacity to reason using knowledge supplied in the form of declarative rules. Jess 6.0b1 supports modules and includes enhancements and bug fixes.

Jungo Software Technologies Launches Driver Development Tools v5.03 and CompactPCI Hot Swap Software
Jungo Software Technologies, Inc. has released version 5.03 of its driver development tools: WinDriver, KernelDriver, and Hardware Debugger. WinDriver is a driver development toolkit that simplifies the creation of monolithic device drivers for custom hardware. KernelDriver is a driver development toolkit that simplifies the creation of kernel-mode drivers, especially Layered (filter and miniport) and Standard drivers. MetaCard Unveils MetaCard v2.4
MetaCard Corporation has released MetaCard v2.4, a cross-platform application development and multimedia-authoring tool. Version 2.4 adds support for Mac OS X, improved QuickTime integration, and support for embedding images and hidden tags in text fields.
MetaCard graphical IDE includes a graphical layout editor, script editor, and debugger. The high-level language, MetaTalk, enables non-programmers to build applications. STEP Tools Ships ST-Developer v9
STEP Tools, Inc. has released ST-Developer v9, a collection of programming tools for building, operating, and maintaining STEP applications, translators, and databases. Version 9 introduces the EXPRESS-to-HTML converter, which generates a frames-based set of HTML pages, enabling a user to browse and navigate an information model. The EXPRESS-to-HTML converter preserves comments and spacing in the EXPRESS information model and creates a cross-reference report for each entity in the schema.
ST-Developer v9 offers enhancements within its key programming libraries. The ROSE library now decreases application memory usage and cleans up memory at the end of an application to effectively unload a DLL. The SDAI library includes new extensions, such as, a low-level interface providing seamless interaction between routines written against the SDAI interface and those written to the ROSE C++ API.

Ochre Software Presents SourceStyler C++

InstallShield Software Corporation has released MultiPlatform 4.5 (formerly known as InstallShield Java Edition), a cross-platform installation-authoring solution. Developed with assistance from Hewlett-Packard, MultiPlatform 4.5 creates graphical installations for multiple platforms including the HP-UX operating environment.
MultiPlatform 4.5 includes a feature called Media Spanning that enables developers to build an installation that spans more than one CD-ROM or DVD. It supports nested features, allowing a user to choose from both features and sub-features when installing the application.

SYWARE Debuts Visual CE 6.0

Datalight Unveils FlashFX 5.0
Datalight has released FlashFX 5.0, flash media management software that simplifies the configuration of resident flash arrays in Microsoft Windows CE-based devices. FlashFX 5.0 presents flash memory as a disk drive to Windows CE and applications. With FlashFX 5.0, developers open, read, write, and delete files in the same way that applications interact with hard-disk and floppy drives. FlashFX 5.0 automatically manages the required hardware interactions. The Datalight seamless flash architecture found in FlashFX 5.0 makes it possible for FlashFX 5.0 to allow Windows CE designers to boot Windows CE from the flash device and also to save and restore the Windows CE registry in nonvolatile flash.
