Headway Software Announces Headway reView 2.4
Headway Software has released reView 2.4, a source code visualization tool for Java and C++ developers. reView 2.4 shows all dependencies at all levels and between all levels: application, package, class, method, and data members. As a reverse engineering tool, reView 2.4 bridges the gap between visual environments found in design tools and text-based IDEs. It uses a subset of the UML notation to visualize code.

ParseTEC Releases Anna 5.2 and LALR 5.2 Educational Version
ParseTEC has released Anna 5.2 as freeware, an LALR grammar analyzer that reads EBNF notation. Anna 5.2 provides useful feedback on conflicts in grammar. While helpful, knowledge of YACC is not necessary.
In addition, ParseTEC has also released as freeware LALR 5.2 Educational Version, a parser generator that reads EBNF notation and creates a parser in C/C++. Also included with LALR 5.2 Educational Version are a DFA lexer generator and compiler front-end source code in C/C++. The source code contains a symbol-table builder and abstract-syntax-tree creator.

Green Hills Offers PowerPC Compiler for the MULTI IDE
Green Hills Software, Inc. has released a PowerPC Compiler for the MULTI IDE that provides automatic vectorization support for Motorola PowerPC processors equipped with the AltiVec vector-processing engine. The PowerPC Compiler converts ordinary C code into optimized AltiVec object code.
AltiVec is a SIMD (single instruction multiple data) processing engine for Motorola PowerPC processors that enhances performance for compute-intensive applications by processing up to 16 data elements per clock cycle. The PowerPC Compiler analyzes the users C program, identifies code sequences that could benefit from SIMD processing, and generates object code for optimal execution on the AltiVec processor.
The PowerPC Compiler is available with the MULTI 2000 IDE. The Windows version costs $5,900. The Unix-hosted version costs $8,900.

Greatis Software Releases Greatis Form Skin 1.0
Greatis Software has introduced Form Skin 1.0, which contains three components for creating windows with transparent areas and arbitrary shapes. WinEdit Software Announces WinEdit ProPack
WinEdit Software Company has released WinEdit ProPack, an IDE and source code editor for editing, testing, viewing, and publishing source files. WinEdit ProPack includes a collection of tools centered on the latest release of the WinEdit source code editor. In addition to providing support for scripting languages, programming languages, and HTML code, WinEdit offers tool integration, one-click viewing of rendered pages or compiled output, and a scripted macro language for automating a build or test environment.
Among the tools in WinEdit ProPack is WebDrive, which maps an FTP site to a local drive, allowing WinEdit or any other Windows application to open, save, or run a remote file. MontaVista Software Releases Hard Hat Linux 2.0
MontaVista Software Inc. has released Hard Hat Linux 2.0, based entirely on the Linux 2.4 kernel. Hard Hat Linux 2.0 supports embedded processor architectures, CPU boards, and software components. Hard Hat Linux 2.0 targets over 20 processors from five architectures, including x86/IA-32, PowerPC, StrongARM, MIPS, and SH. It offers cross-development capability with tools available on eight host environments, including Red Hat Linux, Yellow Dog Linux, SuSe, Mandrake, TurboLinux, Solaris, native/hosted Hard Hat Linux, and VMWare on Windows NT/2000.

VelociGen Unveils VelociGenX
VelociGen Inc. has released VelociGenX, an open-platform web services development and delivery environment for IBMs Websphere Application Server. VelociGenX uses XML technology to provide anything-to-anything application connectivity. By converting heterogeneous data to XML, VelociGenX removes all restrictions on the source of data being integrated, type of transaction being conducted, desired deployment, or scalability.
The XML components and meta-applications, or wrapplets, made by linking components together can be archived, copied, modified, and reused. They can also be published for commercial distribution on a peer-to-peer basis.
