Mainsoft Corporation has released Visual MainWin, an application e-porting program. With Visual MainWin, the entire multi-platform development process can be completed from any PC with no direct interaction with a Unix machine. By providing integration with Microsoft Visual Studio 6, specifically Visual C++, Visual MainWin eliminates the need for Unix development expertise.

ParaSoft Releases Insure++ v6.0
ParaSoft Corporation has announced Insure++ v6.0, their automatic run-time error detection tool for C/C++ development. The new Chaperon mode exposes errors, such as memory corruption, memory leaks, pointer errors, and I/O errors in non-instrumented executable files without requiring any recompiling or relinking. Chaperon provides a check of all data memory references made by a process, whether in compiled code, language support routines, or shared or archived libraries. Additionally, it detects and reports reads of uninitialized memory, reads or writes that are not within the bounds of allocated blocks, and allocation errors.

Jungo Launches WinDriver and KernelDriver v5.0
Jungo Ltd. has released v5.0 of the WinDriver and KernelDriver driver development tools. WinDriver provides Unix developers with a GUI for hardware access, enabling hardware detection and debugging, as well as automatic-driver code generation. WinDriver/KernelDriver v5.0 includes a multi-platform wizard that provides these features to Linux and Solaris developers also. Previously, these features were available to Windows users only. Version 5.0 offers Remote WinDriver, a new feature that enables developers to access hardware on any remote target machine, including embedded systems, from a host machine via any network connection.

Elysian Development Announces eUpdator System
Elysian Development has released the eUpdator System, which provides applications with automatic version checking and updating through Internet or intranet connections. Developed for client/server solutions, the eUpdator System offers a client package with two clients: a VCL component for Borland Delphi developers and a DLL with an API for C/C++. The package also includes the eUpdator application, which carries out the downloading and execution of updates that are found by the clients.
eUpdator System costs $90 for a Client Developer Package, which includes full source for both the standard and professional clients. The license includes permission to distribute the eUpdator application inside installation packages.

Spatial Ships ACIS 3-D Geometric Modeler v6.3
Spatial Corporation has released ACIS 3-D Geometric Modeler v6.3. Written in C++, ACIS 3-D Geometric Modeler v6.3 features an open, object-oriented architecture. It integrates wireframe, surface, and solid modeling with both manifold and non-manifold topology. The interoperability components allow software developers to enhance ACIS-enabled applications with translation technology for the import, export, and viewing of 3-D models, and healing technology for mending 3-D models geometry or topology.
The license agreement for ACIS 3-D Geometric Modeler v6.3 provides the developer free use of the product for 12 months (renewable) or until the application under development is complete. At completion, the license is converted to an OEM agreement, and annual and variable partner fees commence. Fees depend on a number of variables specific to the customer and project.

Perforce and TeamShare Integrate Perforce SCM and TeamShare tTrack
Perforce Software, Inc. and TeamShare, Inc. have announced the integration of Perforces SCM (Software Configuration Management) system and TeamShares tTrack, a defect tracking system. For this integration, Perforce has developed a new open-source module, P4DTI (Perforce Defect Tracking Integration). With P4DTI, developers can do routine defect resolution from a Perforce client or from their IDE without switching to tTrack and entering duplicate information. P4DTI links the changes that developers make, via Perforce, with defects tracked and managed within tTrack.
P4DTI is available as part of the new release of Perforce SCM v2000.2. Perforce 2000.2 costs $600 for a single-user license. Also, P4DTI can be downloaded for free for use with a licensed or two-user Perforce server. The newest release of tTrack costs $599 for a single-user license, and features the ability to integrate with Perforce SCM.
