Advanced Visual Systems Inc. has launched OpenViz, a suite of components that provides interactive, scalable 2-D and 3-D visual representations of multiple data and chart types. Designed for business applications, OpenViz also supports input of map-related data used in spatial applications.
OpenViz enables users to filter data by thresholds and time series, crop, highlight, select and excerpt, and drill down for relational or multidimensional analysis. Other features include support for COM components and JavaBeans, and a small footprint.
OpenViz costs $7,500 for a single-developer license and $5,000 per additional license. An application that deploys the OpenViz engine costs $250 for 50 users or $7,500 per server as a web application.

Global Majic Software Launches 3DLinX

Polar Software Announces Polar Draw ActiveX Control v1.1, Polar ZIP Component v3.0, and Polar SpellChecker Component v2.0
Polar Software has released Polar Draw ActiveX Control v1.1, a drawing tool that incorporates vector drawing abilities and raster imaging tools. It looks like a standard picture box within an application, but it offers support for creating, editing, displaying, storing, and printing drawings. Version 1.1 enables saving pictures as metafiles and is flexible in manipulating shapes, polygons, selections, and file environment.
In addition, Polar Software has released Polar ZIP Component v3.0 and Spellchecker Component v2.0. Polar ZIP features disk spanning with highly customizable functionality. Polar Spellchecker features AutoCorrect DLL, with SpellMaker Wizard to create new dictionaries and the ability to download other dictionaries from the Internet.

Spatial Releases IntraVISION 4.1, ACIS 3D Toolkit 5.2, and Consulting Services for MetaSTEP
Spatial Inc. has released IntraVISION 4.1, visualization software that offers enterprise-wide access to over 300 multifile formats, including the ACIS SAT format and Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. In addition, IntraVISION 4.1 supports formats for desktop, 3-D web, technical illustration, and CAD, including geometric models, assemblies, and configuration data. IntraVISION 4.1 offers an enhanced user interface, based on the standard MS Foundation classes, and has customized layout, dockable toolbars, and tabbed windows.
Spatial has also released the ACIS 3D Toolkit 5.2, its 3-D modeling system, with support for RedHat Linux. Spatial has also announced implementation and consulting services for MetaSTEP, the STEP data exchange interface from Metaphase Technology.
IntraVISION 4.1 pricing starts at $195 per seat. ACIS 3D Toolkit 5.2 pricing starts at $25,000. Pricing for both products varies based on number of seats and level of software purchased.

Helios Software Solutions has released TextPad 4.0, a Windows 95/98/NT text editor. It offers color syntax highlighting for C/C++, HTML, and Java. TextPad 4.0 supports fixed and proportional fonts, as well as double-byte character sets for Asian languages.

Boxer Software Unveils Boxer 99
Boxer Software has released Boxer 99, a text editor for Windows 95/98/NT. Boxer 99 includes color syntax highlighting, a feature that displays and prints source code for programming languages in user-defined colors. Users can modify the reserved words and syntax, allowing Boxer 99 to display any language in any combination of colors and font styles.
Boxer 99 can open an unlimited number of files and supports file sizes up to 16 MB and line lengths up to 32 KB. It also supports multilevel undo and redo.

Silurian Software Debuts Gawp
Silurian Software has introduced Gawp, a software product that provides access to Windows API information and code samples. A feature of Gawp is that C++ code samples are interpreted directly in Internet Explorer or Developer Studio. The Active Samples are integrated into an HTML help system. Using an interpreter means that accurate function timing information is collected and parameters can be modified directly in the browser. The displayed code can be tuned to match individual preferred coding style.
The system is an expandable set of small self-contained modules that are distributed directly over the Internet. Mijenix Corporation has announced EasyUpdate, an SDK for creating customized, client-side update engines for applications. EasyUpdate uses the customer's connection to the Internet, established using Microsoft's Internet protocol engine.
