MindVision Ships Installer VISE 3.0 for Windows

MindVision has announced Installer VISE 3.0 for Windows, an installer development environment. Version 3.0 introduces custom screens, customizable layout interface, advanced setup capture and automatic installer builder, DirectX 6 automatic detection and installation, the ability to build multiple installers (targets) from one project file, FTP and HTTP installs, built-in product serialization, and authentication code support for signing.

KeyStone Debuts Video-Based Course for COM/ActiveX Components

Stonebroom Unveils Stonebroom.RegEx

Stonebroom has introduced Stonebroom.RegEx, a product that allows applications, components, or ASP pages to gather information about their environment or persist their own information about their environment. Stonebroom.RegEx provides the ability to read information about the environment and the operating system that an application runs on and store and retrieve persistence information, without having to wrestle with the Windows API extended registry functions. Raleigh Group International Announces Visual SourceFormat

Raleigh Group International has released Visual SourceFormat, a tool that reformats C++ source code to any desired style. Designed as an add-on to Microsoft Visual Studio or as a stand-alone, the tool comes with seven predefined styles. Users can also define custom styles, specifying over 30 aspects of curly-brace placement, indentation, operator spacing, function spacing, parenthesized expressions, and control statements.

Cygnus Solutions Releases Cygnus GNU Compiler Java Edition and Java Test Suite

Cygnus Solutions has released the Cygnus GNU Compiler Java Edition (GCJ), a Java compiler built with GNU compiler technology that allows Java source code and bytecode to be compiled to native instructions. GCJ comes complete with open source Java libraries. GCJ allows developers to write applications in Java for the Linux OS. By compiling to machine code rather than bytecode, GCJ performs faster than an interpreted implementation.

Cygnus also has released Java Test Suite, which is intended to substantiate Java API compatibility. The Java test suite was developed according to published Java API documentation and is the product of the Open Source Mauve project.

Cygnus GNU Compiler Java Edition and its libraries are available for Linux OS at http://Sourceware.cygnus.com. DBI Unveils Solutions::Explorer

DBI Technologies Inc. has released Solutions::Explorer, an ActiveX component that dynamically manages a List Bar, List View, Tree View, Splitter Bars, Tabs, and HTML viewer with full Microsoft Internet Explorer compatibility. Developers can place the component on a form and create an Explorer-like interface consistent with Microsoft's standard look-and-feel that meets user expectations. Developers can dynamically link data and document objects and then navigate to those objects using the ListBar, TreeView, or ListView. The HTML viewer will display the requested object according to its file type: HTML, Excel sheet, Word document, Project plan, PowerPoint presentation, etc.

Reliable Software Announces Code Co-op v2.0

Reliable Software has announced Code Co-op v2.0, a server-less version-control system for collaborative development. Code Co-op v2.0 works on a peer-to-peer network, but allows synchronization over email or through the exchange of diskettes. Version 2.0 automates distribution of synchronization information. The email distribution system works with email clients such as Outlook, Exchange, or any other email programs that support simple MAPI.

Genesis Laboratory Systems Releases GenStack

Genesis Laboratory Systems, Inc. has released GenStack, an object-oriented implementation of TCP/IP for use in embedded systems. GenStack is licensed per seat, with no product or microprocessor limits. GenStack supports PPP, ARP, IP, ICMP, UDP, TCP, and common application-level services. GenStack is written in C++ and will compile using any standard C++ compiler.

GenStack does not specifically support Ethernet or serial hardware. Instead GenStack's documentation provides detailed guidelines for developing the hardware interface modules.

IDEAL Ships Virtual Print Engine v3.0

Ideal Software has announced Virtual Print Engine v3.0, a printing and presentation tool for Windows developers. Virtual Print Engine v3.0 gives developers using Visual Basic, Delphi, C/C++, Visual FoxPro, and others the ability to create, preview, and print reports, rich documents, drawings, etc., by calling functions at run time. Through code, objects such as text, lines, polygons, images, and barcodes can be positioned, rotated, and scaled. DataChannel Releases XJParser and RIO 3.2 for Solaris

DataChannel has released XJParser, a Java parser formerly known as the XJ2 parser. Based on XML 1.0 standards, XJParser features a complete set of W3C interfaces. A simple API for SML (SAX) 1.0 helps optimize performance when parsing large documents using an event-based API. An integrated eXtensible Stylesheet Language (XSL) processor provides integrated XML parsing and transformation.

In addition, DataChannel has announced RIO 3.2 for Solaris, an Enterprise Information Portal. RIO 3.2 for Solaris extends the functionality of the RIO server to include features such as extensible security architecture, extended channel and folder capabilities, and enhanced content management.

Blue Lobster Software has announced Stingray v1.8, which enables connectivity between Java clients and mainframe data and applications. MERANT plc has announced PVCS Professional 3.0, a software configuration manager. Excel Software has announced QuickCRC 1.1, a design tool for discovering objects and related information for an object-oriented, software-development project. QuickCRC automates the CRC card concept of identifying classes, responsibilities, and collaborations between objects.
